  9. So I bought this one from Ebay back in November 2015. Had it stored in the states and shipped everything in bits to save on cost of sending a complete. I was very patient over this period until the Frame and Forks arrived 2 weeks ago. Well this was the frame and forks. I was super eager to build it as I have been keeping parts for it over the waiting period. This is what it ended up looking like.
  10. Just a show of a quick rebuild / Mock build of my Pro Class before I strip it down and recondition the finish etc.
  11. Hi all, I figured this was the best place to put this post. Recently my original bmx race bike from when I was a kid, and which I gave to a family friends kid, somehow found its way back to me. Yep I was pretty surprised. I’m not into restoring it so thought I’d throw it out there and get insight into whether it’s worth selling to one of you fine people to restore. It’s a chrome pro class. Not sure what year exactly but happy to look it up if you want. It’s not what you’d really call stock. Heaps of stuff was replaced back in the day. It has Ukai blue rims, Takagi grande cranks, Nitto mx-2 stem, Tange headset. It’s been sitting in their shed for years and I haven’t really tried cleaning it, just took some photos last night. As I said, I’m just getting a gauge on interest so please move the post if it’s in the wrong part of the forum. Cheers, Steve

  13. Hi all, My first post here, after joining today. Blown away by the amount of content there is on here. Long story short, I'm looking to do a build of an early 80's Moongoose as a gift for a good mate for his wedding. I am a COMPLETE novice in this regard - he's the BMX fan, but unfortunately as it is a gift I can't really ask him for advice. I'm eyeing off a Team Goose frame, which I'd like to use as the foundation for the build. However, beyond that I am completely in the dark. Would anyone have any advice as to where best to start to get my head around what I need to make this a good build. I'd like to keep it as authentic as possible, but I also don't have the budget or time to search for original parts for every single component. Anyway, I know this is a very vague post... somewhat of a 'how long is a piece of string' kind of question. Nonetheless, I'd appreciate any guidance at all so that I don't screw this up! Thanks heaps in advance! Mat

  20. Afternoon, Up for sale is a Mongoose stamped crank. Made in Japan '81. This is the longer crank, I believe 178mm (measured from centre of spindle area to centre of pedal thread). Let me know if this is wrong. Happy to post a pic next to my ruler if you need to check. The crank has been previously powdered black and is used with a few scuffs and scratches to the finish. Threads all look good etc. Photos show condition. $80 by PayPal includes fees. Postage extra, probably a $13.40 Aus Post bag. Pick up in lower north side Sydney. Dibs rules.
  21. HI Everyone, So i recently stumbled upon an old Mongoose that i wanted to slowly (very) restore back to it former glory and was just wanting a few tips on how to get started, in particularly the wheels, whether its best to get them restored (not sure how that's done) or to get newer ones of the same wheel which i found are still available. I'm also wondering about the date, i'm sure its 1981 but not 100% I'm sort of a novice to this, enjoy riding bikes but have never restored one, any and all feedback is welcome Cheers
  22. I picked up this bike about 18 months ago and have slowly been collecting parts to get it back on the streets. The bike was pretty much all there except for cranks and a few small parts. The seat was ripped so it needed changing also. This is the 1998 Mongoose DMC it came in the grey colourway only. The 1998 Mongoose DMC Pro was the off white colour and had all the fishbone parts. Both the DMC and DMC Pro came with Peregrine HP 48 Rims and DC 990's. The rest of the parts are Mongoose stamped and branded.
  23. Motomag frame and forks in good condition. Repop decals have been badly applied. Leave em or replace em. Tange pinch forks. Rear drops have been sqashed a little but still good, see photo. No cracks dents etc... $350 pick up (Brisbane) postage at cost . D/D or paypal ok. TonyZ...
  24. Up for sale is my much loved Mongoose DMC. I bought it as a frame and fork set after the Haro Shredder I was riding snapped... Any parts that were not up to the task were replaced with quality components - This bike was built to be tough. It is not light but it is solid. It has hardly been ridden in the last 15 years and been hanging on a bike holder in my garage. It hasn't been cleaned so you can see the dust in the photo's and also has surface rust. No dints in frame, bars or forks. Main damage is scuffs on brake levers and warn down alloy pegs. The rims are Peregrine HP 48's and are very true. Tape on bars was to stop oryg cable rattling Let me know if you need better photo's of specific components and I'll get closer pics Due to it's lack of use my wife say's it has to go. I'm not sure what it is worth. I know it is not stock by any means but it is quality. Will let it go for $700 or please make an offer. Inspections welcome and would ship at buyers expense.
