I finally pieced together my grail bike today, pretty happy with where it sits now. I have wanted a yellow Condor since I was 13, everyone has seen the footage of the no-handed 900 at the X-Games in 2002... I saw the colour in person at my local bike shop and fell in love with it. Only problem was, the only bike that was in the price range for my Christmas present that year was the 18/20 Condor as Hoffman didn't release a normal 20" Prodigy Series Condor that year. So... I ended up with a DK and it wasn't until the following Christmas that I got myself a Hoffman, which ended up being a Rhythm! So over the years I got out of BMX altogether, but in the back of my head I always wished I could land a yellow 2003 Condor. So when I got back into building BMX bikes towards the beginning of this year I seemed to be having luck with every other bike except the one I truly wanted... then I found this bike in Galveston TX on Craiglist... It had basically been lightly ridden (it definitely hasn't hit a skatepark) and hung a wall for the past 10 years... Then I hit a problem, the guy would not answer my emails or phone calls! so a month or 2 later it popped up on BMX Museum in the bikes section... I couldn't help myself, I had to ask the guy if he would move it on already... While reluctant at first, a couple of weeks later he decided to sell it to me! The bike is a Star Series, so it is basically 100% chromoly, but didn't come with aftermarket components as the Pro Team Series did... For example no Primo Powerbites or High Roller rims... Only other difference really is the handlebars, the Pro Team Series had Low Drag III's, this one came with the Fantastic Four bars (but I'm not complaining). I changed - normal Hoffman Stem to a nicer Hoffman "Made in USA" stem 44t Hoffman Rise Above sprocket to a 39t Hoffman sprocket (same as pro team series) Jalco generic looking wheels to Alex Supra G Pro rims with a Odyssey Hazard Hub with a 14t cog Wellgo pedals to new school Hoffman sealed bearing alloy pedals I also added a half link change as it just seemed to run so much smoother than the other normal chains I tried.
rerides posted a topic in Technical Q and ASo after much searching and $$$ these puppies arrived to go on my '96 Condor. Mocking up, the forks stick out of the frame a fair way, this isn't such an issue as it can be spaced and I have made found a top nut I can use. However... I cant find the right 1" threadless headset. Does anyone know where or which headset was used with these forks?
